Well now that the dust has settled and things are back to normal, I guess we can continue with our lives. Some expected me to write yesterday about the victory on Tuesday. But personally I felt that you needed a day of rest before being able to see clearly. The emotions were high and people were literally dancing in the streets. It was indeed a site reminiscent of the old footage you would see of the ticker tape parades. Free love and booze everywhere.
Now that President Elect Barack Obama has secured his place in History as the first Dark skinned mulatto to win the seat, I say dark skinned because there are those who believe that at least one other president was questionable, it is time to start looking ahead at who he places around him in his cabinet. Will he build a cabinet of individuals who will buck the system to help bring about this change or will he bring in old politics and continue forward? we can only wait to see. HOw ever the first choice to come out as Chief of staff is Rahm Emanuel, who some have called a Democratic political assassin.
Emanuel is a fellow Chicagoan who started his political career off by working for people like Richard M. Daley before joining Clinton in 1992.
However the most eloquent and somewhat frightening congratulatory comments came from the PREZ himself.
well this is just the beginning but there will be more to follow as Obama continues to build his team I will keep and ever vigilant eye. To find out more about Rahm Emanuel check out the following. http://www.house.gov/emanuel/

Republican strategist John Feehery -- who worked for former House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert and former House Minority Leader Robert H. Michel as well as former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay -- said Emanuel could help prevent House Democrats from overreaching.
"He understands that if Obama goes too far to the left, it's not going to be good for the Democrats," Feehery said. "I think he's the kind of guy who can knock some heads and help Obama guide the Congress toward the middle. . . . You will need a bad cop to Obama's good cop, and Rahm will fill that role quite nicely."
Emanuel's policies, unlike his politics, have always been centrist, in the Bill Clinton mold. In addition, a different Emanuel has emerged in recent years, one who has forged friendships with Republicans and shown an ability to work with them on occasion.

At the White House today, President Bush said his administration was preparing for the transition. He called Obama's victory a "triumph of the American story" and pledged "complete cooperation" with him during the upcoming transition.
"All Americans can be proud of the history that was made yesterday," Bush said, focusing on the broader implications of a vote that swept his own Republican Party from power. "Across the country, citizens voted in large numbers. They showed a watching world the vitality of America's democracy and strides we have made toward a more perfect union."
Pointedly referring to Obama as the country's next commander in chief, Bush said he would brief the Illinois senator on any significant decisions he makes in coming weeks, as Obama's transition team begins the new president's ascension to the White House.
